A group of Widowed Friends recently helped out Food For Life with sorting through 5,040 pounds of potatoes! It was a dusty couple of hours, but in the end, the group helped sort and repackage thousands of potatoes for delivery to a variety of food banks and community centres to help feed hungry individuals and families across Halton.
The new food sort area is a gigantic space in the Burlington Community Living facility that made our work much easier. Lift trucks move giant boxes of food around the floor and there are chairs when leaning over gets to be too much. In addition, we were aided by helpers from Community Living who worked steadily with us to accomplish our big sort.
Food For Life always needs help to sort and package food for those in need in the Halton area. We’ll post another special day for our group soon – if you have a couple of hours on a weekday afternoon to help out, we’d be happy to have you join us! Here are some other pics from the event:
