This week, a Widowed Friends (WF) team came together at Food For Life and sorted 5000 pounds of boxed and canned items in just two hours! Thank you to everyone who came out and worked so hard!
All the food sorted will be redistributed throughout the community and shared with the more than 80 Food For Life programs and agencies in the region, serving more than 12,000 people struggling with hunger each week.
The Food For Life building is currently undergoing renovations so we were limited in the number of participants at this food sort to accommodate the ongoing construction. Renovations should be complete by the new year however, so if you are thinking of joining us next time, there should be enough space for everyone to participate!
In the meantime, Widowed Friends is supporting Food For Life through our “Twoonie in the Box” campaign -let’s make 2020 a little brighter for families in our community! Steph and Dorothy will bring a Twoonie box to each event in November and December so everyone has a chance to contribute a twoonie in support of Food for Life. Proceeds will be donated from Widowed Friends to Food For Life at the end of December.
