Acclaim Health’s annual major fundraising event, Party with a Purpose, is May 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the Harbour Banquet Centre in Oakville.
This fun event includes cocktails, a variety of delicious food stations, silent and live auctions and great music and dancing. It’s in support of isolated seniors and people struggling with all kinds of challenges, including memory loss, grief, and the emotional toll of life threatening illnesses.
If you’ve been interested in volunteering for Acclaim, this event is a great way to find out more about the scope and variety of services it offers to the Halton community and to talk to both Acclaim staff and some of the people Acclaim has helped.
Tickets are $190 and are tax deductible. You can purchase tickets online here.
Carpenter Hospice’s Hike for Hospice is Saturday May 26th at Mountainside Recreation Centre , starting at 9:30 am.
Carpenter Hospice offers both residential-based care to people in the last stages of their lives and community-based programs for people dealing with grief or a life-limiting illness. It lets residents spend their final days together with loved ones in an environment that is peaceful, comfortable and meaningful. It is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers who provide compassionate palliative care to meet residents’ every need and ensure that each moment matters.
The Hike for Hospice walks along a 4.7 km route through the neighbourhood around the hospice. It is a fun day filled with food, music, friends and loved ones. Funds raised at the hike help to ensure the hospice can continue to offer its essential programs and services at no cost to residents, families and program participants.
You can create a team for the hike — with family, friends, school, church, community group, or company. Each hiker, whether registered as an individual or as a member of a team, must individually register and commit to raising a minimum total of pledges of $50.
