At the beginning of a new year, many of us resolve to make a fresh start with a long list of resolutions. It’s easy to make resolutions, but often good intentions melt away as the days and weeks go by. So, this year, instead of making a list of resolutions, how about we just decide to make a choice.
Let’s choose to start the new year off with thankfulness and an open heart and mind and to look for and appreciate all the opportunities and good things the new year brings.
It may be hard to make this choice if you are feeling loss and sadness, we know, but if we stay with the sad feelings, we block new possibilities and miss recognizing the good things in our lives. Since we can’t go back, we must go forward and the new year gives us the opportunity to take a few small steps in the direction of rebuilding and recreating our lives.
Let’s be conscious of our thoughts as we start the new year and try to balance any sad or negative thinking with something we think of as positive and uplifting.
Remember, we are all in this together and we all are here to support and care for one another.
