That’s a lot of cans, bottles and packages to sort through for a team from WFH who spent Thursday afternoon sorting and boxing up donated food at Food For Life.

The need to feed families in Halton and Hamilton never goes away and the summer season doesn’t make the job any easier. Sarah Wolf, Community Engagement Co-ordinater at Food For Life noted that 1 in 5 families in Hamilton and 1 in 7 families in Burlington are “food insecure.”

Just a few hours of work can yield big results. By sorting through boxes, checking expiry dates, and categorizing food by type the team was able to accumulate 1940 pounds of food ready to be distributed to food banks and other pickup points across Halton.

Thanks as well to the WFH members who donated food – it was very appreciated!

Check out the video of our afternoon as well as some pics of the event!
